Patient Alert Recall On Allergy Nasal Spray

HEALTHTEAM PHARMACIES' PATIENTS DISPENSED FLUTICASONE TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATION

 

Apotex Corporation has issued a voluntary recall of one lot of fluticasone propionate nasal spray (lot number NJ4501; expiration date 07/2020). Fluticasone propionate is typically used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, also commonly known as seasonal allergies or hay fever. This particular lot number has been found to contain small glass particles that could block the actuator and cause the pump mechanism to malfunction. No reports of adverse events from patients have been received by the manufacturer to date.

We believe the safety of all MSU patients, faculty and staff to be paramount. We ask you to please check your prescription fluticasone propionate nasal spray to determine if you have received the lot number in question regardless of the dispensing pharmacy. If you have, contact the dispensing pharmacy.

As an additional measure, patients of MSU HealthTeam Pharmacies will receive notification by mail if they have been dispensed fluticasone propionate nasal spray. However, our records are not able to identify you if you have received the recalled drug. Patients do not need to wait for the mailed notice to check their fluticasone prescription.

Please check your prescription using the following table and label. If you have received a lot number in question, stop using the product and bring the unused portion to the Olin or Clinical Center Pharmacy for a replacement.
